blop...blop...(the sound of bubbles)

Tuesday March 10th

Snorkeling day!!  We planned to go snorkeling with two small groups from our ESL class.  This past week it's been raining non-stop so we weren't sure if it would be a good day or not but it turned out to be ok.  It was cloudy and nippy in the morning but the sun did try to poke out through the clouds in the afternoon which was all that we needed.  We took the girls down to Children's Beach - Kahalu'u?  Anyways, about half of us got into the water.  It was cold - after a week of rain but once we got in we were fine.  We saw some crazy fish - small ones, fat ones, some as big as your head...
It was a great experience.  We all felt a bit crazy with our masks and tubes on but everyone had them since it's a big snorkeling spot so that helped.  And after we had a form of snow-cones.  But way better - there was banana, strawberry, cherry, peach....and it goes on so it was really like a big slurpee, very exciting!!
So that was that - my first experience of snorkeling in Hawaii and it was great.  I got a bit scared when all the fish were swimming right around me - you know, when you think this is cool and then you realize, oh, this is a bit wierd...and then you start breathing a bit more heavily.... But it was great...all in all, a success!
