So I hit the curb bad today....in an astro van....with 9 students crammed into it...with the university vehicle...
But nothing happened, thankfully. Besides scaring the students. It wasn't really that bad but that was about the excitement for the day...well, it's only 3pm so there may be more but I have a feeling there this may be it. Anyways, you may think that the destination was more interesting than the drive but that isn't true. We went up the mountain a bit this afternoon with my small group and anothers. We headed to a small hippie village called "Holualoa". We were told there were going to be many galleries, shops, cafes and cool people. Well, there were galleries and some were interesting but for students that don't speak English very well and may not go to Art Galleries where they are from - it wasn't that interesting. They took some pictures, one girl almost broke a $350 sculpture and they drank coffee. Oh well, it was a bit of a bust but Aey, the girl that I talked about in our update letter, loved it. She was talking to almost every person she saw - she even got an email address of one of the gallery owners so that she can email some of her own art...interesting eh. She's really doing her homework - talking to native English speakers.
So that was that. At least we got to the village and back - the one small group had tried to get there a previous day and the vehicle stalled 5 minutes from the base. So they actually had to walk back and spent their time finding a tow truck and alerting the transportation department. SO, at least we made it there and back...even if I hit a curb...slightly...

maybe you should leave astro vans alone. I seem to recall running out of gas with you and an astro on our way to Morris. Then we hitched a ride to morris, maybe left booy with the van. Then they gave us their gerry can and the Esso lady drove us back to our spot! All to set-up for western night!!
